I've Got It ALL(Most)
holy smokes.
holy smokes friends,
sometimes i find myself so wrapped up in the thoughts and actions of other people that i forget to stop and think about what i think about and to remember what it is that i feel about the things that i think about.
this evening i tried to watch the first debate between our two wonderful, smart, courageous, honorable, honest, loyal, straight-talking, straight-thinking, straight in orientation, presidential candidates and boy was i impressed.....................................................................................................................................................
...................................................................................................and and by impressed i mean that i was physically nauseated and i cant tell if it was from too much ice cream, or because i could actually SEE the garbage falling out of the senators mouths as they spoke. very clean and pleasing to republicans and democrats alike was the trash, but trash it was.
obama hadnt yet "seen the language" on our county's "bailout plan" and when the mediator asked Senator John McCain AKA "THE MAVERICK" if he would vote for the plan he responded "i hope so" and when pushed for a real answer he said, and no i am not making this up, "sure".
oh well.
tonight i am warm and i know that my family is safe. i am not hungry and neither is my daughter and that is much more than the majority of us humans can say. i guess we can just let the small stuff slide and roll with what we have...and i think that i'll take a shower tonight before i turn in...ya, that sounds nice. why not? sure.

I'm with you. We're fed, safe, & sheltered and that is truly more than many around the world can say.
And on the debate? My feelings exactly. You haven't seen the language? Sure?
Oh well. General Conference is next week - that's when I will tune in.
Love,
Mom
Words, words, words, I'm so sick of words! (Eliza Dolittle)
How can they talk so much without ever saying anything? I try to see the good in each candidate, but sometimes they make it so hard!
I want to know where my bailout plan is. I guess I should've gotten a half a million dollar house, then maybe I could cry to the govt that I am a middle class working family & can't pay my mortgage.
Ma - I'm with you.
No kidding, where's my reward for living within my means, buying a house responsibly and paying for it every month? Man, I totally missed the boat there...should have bought a million dollar house on an "arm". Fixed rates are for suckers.
"Let me be clear" (B. Obama), This whole thing sticks and in Landon's own words..."I don't think anyone knows what they are talking about."
Very understandable thoughts Dennis. I think your feelings echo many people's opinions.
It is interesting what politics look and sound like in a time like this. Typical as usual, but I think most people can see that even politicians do not have a great deal of trust and hope in the current state of our Union. The U.S. right now feels like a taught water-balloon riddled with holes bandaged by layers and layers of tape and everyone knows that this is not going to hold forever. This bailout does seem to be another piece of tape, but considering the circumstances and ramifications of a rupture, sometimes a piece a tape, if all you have, is good at least to delay the inevitable. No truer example of choosing between two evils has existed in perhaps my lifetime (this bail out) - socialism v. capitalism - an argument at the very core of democracy. But what we can say about our country is that with all of its garbage, hypocrisy and often flat out dishonesty, it is seemingly the one standing alone with perfection as its core goal, as futile as it may seem and as inept as we may be of going about it. Which I think is no different than many of us living our lives each day striving to leave up to that perhaps unattainable perfection.
Basically I agree, we should feel blessed by what we have and the warmth of our homes and loved ones and the opportunities that this nation provides us but we should also feel proud that we live in a nation with a system where we can disagree and express our opinions as believers striving for some common good. In between the rhetoric and posturing I believe both partisan political machines are striving for the same happiness, but sometimes through very different means.
And finally, let me apologize for such a long winded and weird rant. Go Packers!
P.S. have you checked out "Radiohead - In Rainbows"...unbelievable!
